พลตำรวจตรี ขุนพันธรักษ์ราชเดช (บุตร พันธรักษ์) (18 กุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ. 2446 — 5 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2549) อดีตนายตำรวจชื่อดังของวงการตำรวจไทย ซึ่งมีชื่อเสียงเป็นอันมากในการปราบโจรร้ายในภูมิภาคต่าง ๆ ของไทย ในภาคกลางเช่น เสือฝ้าย, เสือหวัด, เสือย่อง, เสือผ่อน, เสือครึ้ม, เสือปลั่ง, เสือใบ, เสือดำ, เสืออ้วน, เสือไหว, เสือมเหศวร ที่พัทลุง ปราบ เสือกลับ และ เสือสังหรือเสือพุ่ม ที่นราธิวาส ปราบผู้ร้ายทางการเมือง ในปี พ.ศ. 2481 หัวหน้าโจรชื่อ “อะเวสะดอตาเละ” จนท่านได้ฉายาจากชาวไทยมุสลิมว่า “รายอกะจิ” ซึ่งแปลว่า “อัศวินพริกขี้หนู” และจากผลงานที่ท่านสามารถปราบโจร เสือร้ายต่าง ๆ ได้มากมาย จึงได้รับฉายา เช่น นายพลตำรวจหนังเหนียวผู้จับเสือมือเปล่า, นายพลตำรวจหนวดเขี้ยว, ขุนพันธ์ฯ ดาบแดง (เชื่อกันว่าเป็นดาบที่ตกทอดมาจาก พระยาพิชัยดาบหัก ฝักดาบมีถุงผ้าสีแดงห่อหุ้ม ตัวดาบมีความคมกล้า), รายอกะจิ (อัศวินพริกขี้หนู) ฯลฯ, จอมขมังเวทย์ เป็นต้น

เป็นเรื่องราวที่สร้างขึ้นมาจากชีวิตจริงของ ขุนพันธรักษ์ราชเดช ” บุตร พันธรักษ์ ” จะเกิดอะไรขึ้นเมื่อ ” ความอยู่ยงคงกระพัน กำลังถูกท้าท้าย ” ระหว่างที่บ้านเมืองกำลังจะเดินหน้าสู่ความสงบสุข หลังจากยุคสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 กลับถูกก่อกวนโดยซุ้มเสือต่าง ๆที่ตั้งซุ้มตั้งเผ่ากันขึ้นมาในภาคกลาง เมื่อเรื่องนี้โด่งดังจนไปเข้าหู ขุนพันธรักษ์ราชเดช ท่านจึงอยู่เฉยไม่ได้พร้อมทั้งได้เดินทางมายังภาคกลางเพื่อที่จะกำราบซุ่มเสือต่าง ๆที่ชาวบ้านต่างล่ำลือกันว่าซุ้มเสือกลุ่มนี้หนักเหนียวฟันแทงไม่เข้า ” ภารกิจครั้งใหม่และครั้งสุดท้ายของ ขุนพันธรักษ์ราชเดช มือปราบดาบแดง กับการจับตาย ” รับชมได้เร็ว ๆนี้

ชีวิตของ พล.ต.ต.ขุนพันธรักษ์ราชเดช เป็นชีวิตที่มีค่าของแผ่นดินเมืองใต้และเมืองไทย ลมหายใจของท่านเคยโลดแล่นอยู่ท่ามกลางหมู่โจรผู้ร้าย ไม่เฉพาะแต่ผู้ร้ายในภาคใต้เท่านั้น แต่ที่ไหนประชาชนเดือดร้อนจากโจรผู้ร้ายชุกชุม ตำรวจคนอื่นปราบปรามไม่สำเร็จ กรมตำรวจจะต้องส่งตัวขุนพันธ์ฯ ไปปราบปรามทุกถิ่นที่มีครั้งหนึ่งท่านเป็นรองผู้บังคับการตำรวจภูธรเขต 8 ท่านเคยเดินทางมาตรวจสืบราชการลับที่เกาะสมุย ขุนพันธ์ฯ ท่านชอบดูมวย วันนั้นท่านไปยืนดูมวยอยู่ข้างเวที บังเอิญถอยหลังไปเหยียบเท้านางพล้อยเข้าโดยไม่ตั้งใจ ป้าพล้อยแกเป็นคนปากจัด ใครแตะเป็นด่าไม่ไว้หน้า แกก็ด่าขุนพันธ์ฯ ขุนพันธ์ฯ ก็วางเฉยไม่โต้ตอบอะไร มีคนรู้จักกันเข้าไปเตือนสติป้าพล้อยว่า “คนที่ป้าด่าอยู่นั้นรู้มั๊ยว่าเป็นใคร…นั่นแหละขุนพันธ์ฯ” พอได้ยินชื่อขุนพันธ์ฯเท่านั้น ป้าพล้อยแกเงียบเป็นเป่าสาก รีบก้มหน้างุดๆ เดินมุดผู้คนหนีไปโดยไม่เหลียวหลังมาอีกเลย คำบอกเล่าสั้นๆนี้ทำให้เห็นว่า ขุนพันธ์ฯ ท่านมีตบะสูง เพียงได้ยินว่าเป็นขุนพันธ์เท่านั้น ใคร ๆ ก็ขยาดทั้งนั้น เพราะรู้กิตติศัพท์ของท่านมาก่อน

สมัยที่ขุนพันธ์ฯ กลับมาอยู่เมืองนครศรีธรรมราช ก็มีเรื่องเล่ากันว่า ตอนนั้นมีเสือใหญ่อยู่ 10 คน ในจำนวนเสือร้าย 10 คนนั้น มีเสือข่อย เสือจ้อย เสือหวน ฯลฯ รวมอยู่ด้วย เสือทั้ง 10 คนนั้น ล้วนเคยเป็นศิษย์หลวงพ่อช่วย เมืองนครศรีธรรมราช ผู้ซึ่งเป็นพระมีวิชาเก่งกล้าทางกฤตยาคม ขุนพันธ์ฯ เคยเรียนวิชาด้วยผู้หนึ่ง เมื่อท่านขุนพันธ์ฯกลับมาอยู่ในตำแหน่งสำคัญระดับภาค ท่านมีประกาศิตสั่งให้ผู้ร้ายทั้ง 10 คนนั้น เลิกประพฤติเยี่ยงโจร ให้กลับใจเลิกเป็นเสือเสีย โดยให้บวชเป็นพระภิกษุ ถ้าหากไม่ทำตามคำขอร้องนั้น ขุนพันธ์ฯ ก็จะยิงทิ้งทุกคน เล่ากันว่าประกาศิตของขุนพันธ์ฯ ทำให้เสือร้ายส่วนใหญ่ปฏิบัติตามแต่โดยดี มีเพียงเสือข่อยเพียงรายเดียวเท่านั้นที่ไม่ยอมทำตามคำของขุนพันธ์ฯ เสือข่อยไม่ยอมเลือกทางเดินที่ท่านเลือกให้ ซ้ำร้ายยิ่งท้าทายอำนาจของกฎหมายบ้านเมือง ด้วยความเชื่อว่าตนนั้นเป็นศิษย์หลวงพ่อช่วย ผู้เรืองวิชาอาคมแก่กล้า เป็นลูกศิษย์อาจารย์เดียวกับขุนพันธ์ฯ จึงคิดว่าขุนพันธ์จะยกเว้นไว้สักคนหนึ่ง แต่ปรากฏว่า ขุนพันธ์ฯ ทำตามที่พูด ว่ากันว่าท่านยิงเสือข่อย แต่ยิงไม่เข้า จึงสั่งให้ลูกน้องฆ่าด้วยศูลแทงสวนทวารจนถึงแก่ความตาย คำเล่าลือเหล่าเสือร้ายในหมู่บ้านของชาวเมืองปักษ์ใต้ มีทั้งเรื่องจริงบ้าง หรือต่อเติมเสริมแต่งของผู้เล่าอ่านเองบ้าง มันคือตำนานอมตะของวีรบุรุษเล็กพริกขี้หนูที่มีนามว่า “นายร้อยบุตร พันธรักษ์ราชเดช” หรือขุนพันธรักษ์ราชเดช ท่านเป็นบุคคลที่สำนักงานตำรวจแห่งชาติ ไม่ว่าตำแหน่งใด ยศใด ยกย่อง นับถือและกล่าวถึง เนื่องจากท่านเป็นแบบอย่างที่ดีของตำรวจ
